ALTO, Texas (KETK) — Alto ISD announced veteran educator as their lone superintendent finalist on Tuesday.
Alto ISD Board of Trustees named Derrick Conley as the new superintendent. Through his extensive career in education, Conley has served as assistant superintendent at Pine Tree ISD in Longview, executive director of elementary education, campus principal, assistant principal, teacher and coach.
Conley received his Bachelor’s of Business Administration from East Texas University, Master’s in Educational Leadership from Lamar University and superintendent certification from UT Tyler.
“All of my experiences have prepared me and all of us for this moment. Together, we will elevate the Alto ISD community, and each and every student, teacher, staff, and community member in it, to the very best versions of themselves; and, we will strive daily to achieve excellence together,” Conley said.
Alto ISD officials said they are excited to bring their community a lone finalist with the experience of a veteran leader and servant’s heart. They say it is clear that he truly cares about the students, staff and families he serves.
Texas requires a 21-day waiting period following the naming of a lone finalist, and the board will meet on Feb. 17 to consider an official contract.
