CHARLOTTE (PINPOINT WEATHER ALERT) — Snow lovers… look away. The chance for measurable snowfall continues to decrease for Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
The big reason is that the low-pressure track is too far south, allowing the moisture to stay further south as well.
Dry air will hinder snow chances as well for Tuesday night.
Now, this is not to say we will not see any snow falling from the sky at all. There is the potential for a few flurries Tuesday night across the Charlotte metro area. It will likely be too light to cause any accumulation.
Our Pinpoint Weather Team has issued a Pinpoint Weather Alert for Tuesday night and Wednesday morning for the potential of slick roads.
Although major impacts are highly unlikely, a few elevated spots and secondary routes could be a little dicey for the Wednesday morning commute.
The ground and road temperatures will be very cold, so anything that does fall will stick easily.
The biggest weather story this week is the Arctic air. Some areas could remain below freezing until Thursday afternoon, which is possibly 72-96 hours below freezing for some areas.
Be sure to wear multiple layers this week, cover up any exposed skin, and insulate your water pipes.
Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning could present wind chills in the single digits around Charlotte, which could be dangerous if outside in it for long enough.
High temperatures will be in the 20s and 30s on Tuesday and Wednesday, with areas flirting with the 40-degree mark by Thursday.
We will thaw out a bit later this week, with highs back in the 40s on Friday and possibly a few 50s this weekend. Stay warm and safe!
