CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Charlotte man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting last month, according to court and jail records.
Daniel Wheeler, 22, was booked into the Mecklenburg County Detention Center around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15. He is charged with the murder of 18-year-old Jordyn Decedric Campbell.
Just after 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29, officers were called to the 3200 block of Nobles Avenue, where they found Campbell shot. He was pronounced dead before he could be taken to a hospital.
According to arrest warrants, Wheeler used a rifle to shoot into a 2016 Ford Fusion with two people inside, Campbell and a woman. It is unclear if the woman was injured; however, she escaped the incident with her life.
Wheeler is charged with felony 1st-degree murder, felony attempted 1st-degree murder and felony discharging a weapon into occupied property. He is scheduled to appear in court at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan 16.
