MOORESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Interstate 77 is closed due to a crash and a tractor-trailer catching fire during Monday morning rush hour, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
NCDOT says the incident happened just before 7 a.m. on I-77 between Brawley School Road and Williamson Road. This is just outside of Mooresville town limits.
A tractor-trailer encountering equipment failure crashed into a Chevrolet Camaro, according to State Highway Patrol.
Troopers say both vehicles moved to the right shoulder, and the tractor-trailer caught fire. The left lane and toll lane are open, but traffic is still moving slowly. The roadway is expected to reopen around 10 a.m.
