(PINPOINT WEATHER) — We are under a Pinpoint Weather Alert Friday through Saturday morning, as a combo of snow, sleet and freezing rain will be moving in starting Friday afternoon.
Around lunchtime or a couple hours after, we’ll start to see some snow and sleet falling across the region, adding up to several inches in the mountains, with up to 2-4 inches possible in the Foothills. We likely won’t get quite as much around the Charlotte metro and south, with anywhere from a dusting up to two inches possible.
However, in some of the areas where we likely won’t get as much snow, there could be more ice accrual. That would be south and east of Charlotte, into parts of South Carolina. Obviously this will lead to slick roads, but could also lead to more power outages.
All of the precipitation is out of here by sunrise Saturday. Mountains are the exception, where snow showers could linger a bit longer. The rest of the weekend is dry but cold. Highs rise above freezing in the afternoons, but drop into the 20s again at night, so icy spots will linger. Stay aware and stay safe!
Tonight: Clouds increase late. Low 21.
Friday: Snow, sleet and freezing rain developing in the afternoon. High 36.
