The Rocky Top, Tennessee community mourns the loss of Jamie Lynn Claiborne Elliott, age 48, who passed away on January 7, 2025, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Born on May 9, 1976, in Campbell County, Tennessee, Jamie’s life was a testament to selflessness, faith, and a deep love for her family and community.
From a young age, Jamie exhibited a passion for helping others, which blossomed into her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Her devotion to nursing went beyond a job—it was a calling. She touched countless lives with her skill, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her patients, embodying the heart of the caregiving profession.
Jamie also found strength and solace in her faith. When her health allowed, she cherished attending services at Stinking Creek Baptist Church alongside her aunt. Her connection to her church community was a source of comfort and joy, reflecting her belief in the importance of faith and fellowship.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Linda Adkins; her grandparents, Willie and Anna Mea Adkins; her uncle, Rev. Mark Branam; her cousin, Audrey Danielle Adkins; and her mother-in-law, Clarice Wilson Elliott.
Jamie leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with those who survive her:
- Her devoted husband, James Elliott
- Her son, Kaleb Chance Sammon, who was her pride and joy
- Uncles Danny Adkins (wife Leann Adkins) and Benny Adkins (wife Linda Adkins)
- Her caring aunt, Tammy Branam
- Close cousins Danny and Tony Adkins, Ashley Branam, Justin Adkins, Anthony and Racheal Branam, Bryson and Maddie Branam, Kaylie Mounts, Trey Branam, Emberlynn Branam, and April Stone
- Brothers-in-law Brian Elliott (wife Kim and family) and Rodney Elliott (wife Tara and family)
- Her father-in-law, Jimmy Elliott
- A host of special friends and extended family who will always remember her warmth and kindness
Jamie’s life will be celebrated on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Rocky Top, TN. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Jamie Brewster will officiate the service. Jamie will be laid to rest in a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in LaFollette, where family and friends will gather to say their final goodbyes.
Though Jamie’s time with us has come to an end, her legacy of compassion and care will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a tapestry of love, woven with the threads of her dedication to family, her faith, and her service to others.
