Arnold J. Frank, 72, of Newmarket, New Hampshire, passed away on January 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with a prolonged illness. Born on July 20, 1952, in Newark, New Jersey, Arnold was the eldest son of Julius and Shirley Frank. Throughout his life, he embodied strength, wisdom, and an enduring passion for education, family, and community.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sara, and their three children: Jakob (and his wife, Marissa), Rachel, and Loren. He is also survived by his siblings Debbie, Merrill, and Leonard, along with his numerous nieces and nephews. A devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle, Arnold cherished his family deeply, always serving as a source of strength and inspiration.
Describing himself as a “wandering Jew,” Arnold led an extraordinary life, marked by a diverse range of experiences and accomplishments. From his humble beginnings delivering furs for a local furrier in Union, New Jersey, at the age of eight, to becoming a renowned educator and community leader, Arnold embraced every chapter of his life with vigor and determination.
Arnold earned his undergraduate degree from American University in 1974 and began his career as an English teacher in rural Maine. It was in Miami that he met the love of his life, Sara, and the two began a journey that took them to Madison, Wisconsin, where Arnold earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Arnold’s dedication to education was unparalleled. Over his storied career, he served as a principal at several high schools, including Williams Bay High School in Wisconsin, Narragansett High School in Rhode Island, and Amity High School in Connecticut. His crowning achievement was founding Woodland Regional High School in Beacon Falls, Connecticut, where he built the school from the ground up, leaving a lasting legacy of excellence and commitment to students.
