MOORESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is dead after a tree fell on their vehicle during heavy rain Sunday morning, troopers say.
NC State Highway Patrol responded to NC 152 near Brumley Road in Iredell County around 10:10 a.m. on Sunday to investigate a fatal collision.
Officials say a fallen tree struck a 1979 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling south on NC 152 during heavy rain.
The driver of the vehicle, 70-year-old Matthew Ronald Teeple of Cleveland, died at the scene.
The initial investigation indicated that speed and impairment were not contributing to the collision. NC 152 was closed for approximately four hours during the on-scene investigation.
