Scott Mason WANTED; – The search for Scott Mason, 38, from St. Johnsbury, who is a suspect in a shooting incident that occurred on Friday afternoon and resulted in injuries to a St. Johnsbury police officer, is ongoing.
The Vermont State Police is collaborating with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and has notified organizations throughout the state and New England to be vigilant for Mason. A Blue Alert has also been issued, which is activated whenever a police officer is killed or injured in the line of duty and a dangerous suspect remains at large.
The Vermont State Police urges the public to remain alert and take appropriate safety measures, such as securing their homes and vehicles and being aware of their surroundings.
Authorities continue to advise community members to contact 911 immediately if they spot Mason and to avoid approaching him, as he is considered armed and dangerous. An additional image of Mason is included with this announcement.
Mason is currently wanted on an arrest warrant for failing to appear on 26 counts of forgery unrelated to the shooting incident. This warrant is extraditable throughout New England and New York, with a bail set at $5,000.
At this time, the Vermont State Police is not disclosing the identity of the injured officer, who remains hospitalized at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire and is receiving treatment. As of late Friday night, his condition was reported as stable, and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
