Peggy Liu,Donald Smith Obituary, Death; – The California Highway Patrol announced on Friday the identities of two individuals who lost their lives in a Thanksgiving Day accident on U.S. 50 in El Dorado County. The deceased have been identified as Peggy Liu, 50, from Fremont, California, and Donald Smith, 84, from Wellington.
According to the CHP, Smith was operating a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse traveling east when it collided head-on around 5:35 p.m. with a 2001 Toyota Sequoia heading west, which was driven by 28-year-old Jeffrey Chen from Kirkland, Washington. The cause of the accident remains undetermined. The incident occurred east of Audrain Way, approximately 13 miles south of South Lake Tahoe.
Peggy Liu, who was a passenger in the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene. Jeffrey Chen sustained serious injuries, while his passengers, Shi Chen, 64, Ellen Liu, 60, and Kevin Chen, 26, incurred moderate injuries.
