MyAngel Walker Obituary, Death; – Numerous law enforcement agencies are conducting an investigation following the discovery of a deceased woman in the Upstate.
The family of 18-year-old MyAngel Walker reported her missing to the Laurens Police Department on Thursday. She was last seen in Clinton, prompting a collaborative investigation with the Clinton Police.
Walker’s absence from work that day was noted as unusual. Investigators quickly assessed her disappearance as suspicious, leading the inquiry to extend into Newberry and Greenwood counties.
“It became clear during the night that we were searching for more than just a missing person,” stated Laurens Police Chief Heath Copeland. Walker’s body was subsequently located in a vehicle near McKenzie Road in Greenwood County. The cause of her death has not yet been disclosed.
Malachi Pressley, 19, has been arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Additionally, 19-year-old Taylor Kinard has been charged as an accessory after the fact. “She had knowledge of it and she helped,” remarked Clinton Police Chief Michael Addison.
Pressley and Kinard are set to appear for bond hearings on Saturday morning. Walker’s mother, Sade Woodruff, indicated that Pressley was her daughter’s on-and-off boyfriend.
“Anyone experiencing any form of domestic dispute or abuse should seek to escape. If you can, get away,” she advised. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is providing assistance in the investigation surrounding Walker’s death.
Walker’s family noted that she graduated from high school earlier this year and aspired to become a nurse. “Everything I’ve heard about MyAngel indicates she was a very bright young lady with a kind heart,” Chief Copeland remarked. “This is a tragedy that should not occur. However, we are relieved that we were able to secure justice for that family swiftly.”
Authorities are continuing to conduct interviews and collect evidence related to the case. Anyone with information regarding Walker’s death is encouraged to contact the Clinton Police Department.
