Julian Ebanks Obituary, Death; – A 23-year-old man has been convicted of murder for “luring a young man to his death” in south-east London.
Julian Ebanks was fatally stabbed on Kender Street, Greenwich, just 90 minutes after arriving in London in August 2023. Ishmaiel Kallon has been sentenced to a minimum of 22 years in prison following his conviction at Woolwich Crown Court for his involvement in the crime.
The individual who delivered the fatal stab remains unidentified. Mr. Ebanks was discovered with fatal injuries on the street, and after an extensive investigation, law enforcement officials identified Kallon and another individual as the primary suspects.
According to a report from the Metropolitan Police, “The court was informed that Kallon had contacted Julian in the hours leading up to the assault.” It was revealed that Kallon’s intention was to draw Julian into a vulnerable position on Kender Street, where he was subsequently attacked by another assailant while Kallon acted as a lookout.
Investigations are still underway to apprehend the other suspect.
Julian had previously left London earlier in the year due to safety concerns but returned to celebrate a family member’s birthday. Tragically, he was murdered just 90 minutes after his return.
“Kallon has not provided any rationale for the brutal murder of Julian. However, an analysis of Kallon’s electronic devices indicated that the attack stemmed from a prior disagreement between the involved parties earlier in 2023.”
Detective Chief Inspector Martin Thorpe, who oversaw the homicide investigation, described Kallon as a “dangerous individual” who showed no hesitation in leading Mr. Ebanks to his demise. “Our thoughts are with Julian’s loved ones during this incredibly challenging time, and we will continue to extend our full support to them,” he stated.
“I am gratified that our investigation has brought justice to the Ebanks family by ensuring that the individual responsible for Julian’s death will face a significant prison sentence. I would also like to acknowledge the exceptional efforts of my team. Their remarkable dedication and extensive hours spent analyzing CCTV footage and phone records were instrumental in bringing Kallon to justice.”
