Markazsa Perry Obituary, Death; – The Fresno Police Department identified the 31-year-old woman who was fatally shot after approximately 40 rounds were discharged at her on Wednesday.
Authorities responded to a report of a shooting victim at 748 East Samson Avenue in Fresno around 4:15 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Markazsa Perry, aged 31, suffering from a single gunshot wound. She was subsequently transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
According to investigators, Perry was in the backyard of the residence with several individuals when three suspects approached. The suspects discharged around 40 rounds from a distance of approximately 40 yards, targeting Perry and the others present with multiple firearms. Police described the suspects as black male adults. They fled the scene on foot and may have left in a vehicle.
Fresno Police Lieutenant Paul Cervantes emphasized the severity of the incident, noting the high volume of gunfire. “We have reason to believe there may be a connection, possibly gang-related, and we are collaborating with our multi-agency gang enforcement consortium to explore this angle further,” Cervantes stated.
“It is only by sheer luck that we do not have more victims from the gunfire, considering over 40 rounds were fired.” It remains unclear whether Perry was the intended target. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the shooting to reach out to the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-7000.
