Wanda Rena Sheppard Obituary, Death; – A 53-year-old woman tragically lost her life early Monday morning after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in the vicinity of Uptown Charlotte. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has identified the victim as Wanda Rena Sheppard.
The incident occurred at 2:15 a.m. in the 1000 block of N. Caldwell Street, just past the Brookshire Freeway (I-277). Upon arrival, CMPD officers discovered Sheppard lying on the road with severe injuries. She was pronounced deceased at Novant Health Presbyterian.
Witnesses reported to the police that Sheppard was in the process of crossing Caldwell Street when she was hit by a dark-colored vehicle that did not stop. The vehicle was last observed heading toward E. 12th Street.
