Mitchell Thomson,Nicholas Thomson Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identities of the three individuals who lost their lives following a boat capsizing incident on the Mississippi River, close to Bellevue, on Sunday.
The deceased have been named as 30-year-old Mitchell Thomson from Stanwood, Iowa; 40-year-old Nicholas Thomson from Tipton, Iowa; and 61-year-old Kirk Stout Sr. from Marion, Iowa.
According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the trio was engaged in fishing in a boat located in a restricted zone directly beneath Lock and Dam No. 12 on the Mississippi River at approximately 11 a.m. when their vessel capsized.
Rescue efforts resulted in all three individuals being retrieved from the water. Two were declared dead at the scene, while the third was transported by ambulance to MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center, where he was subsequently pronounced dead. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
