Gregory Delacruz Obitruary, Death; – A man has died following a stabbing incident at his residence in southeast Fresno on Saturday morning, and the perpetrator remains unidentified.
Law enforcement officials responded to a distress call reporting an assault near the intersection of Fillmore and Jackson avenues shortly before 7 a.m. Upon arrival, first responders discovered 46-year-old Gregory Delacruz with multiple stab wounds. Despite efforts to save his life, Delacruz was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities suspect that the victim was acquainted with his assailant. “This does not seem to be a random act of violence,” stated Fresno Police Lt. Paul Cervantes. “It appears that an individual was deliberately targeted, although the motives remain unclear at this time.”
Investigators are working to determine the circumstances leading to the stabbing incident. “Preliminary evidence suggests that someone may have been invited to the residence, and an altercation ensued,” Lt. Cervantes elaborated.
After analyzing surveillance footage from the vicinity, police identified a suspect fleeing the scene post-incident. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his mid-40s, wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, with light or thinning hair on top, standing approximately 5’7″ with a slender build, according to Lt. Cervantes.
While the suspect is still at large, authorities assure the public that there is no ongoing threat and are seeking assistance from the community in solving this case. Residents in the area are encouraged to review their surveillance footage from around 6:50 a.m. for any relevant information, as stated by Lt. Cervantes.
