Decatur, Alabama – November 27, 2024 – Dusty Ladd Cheatham, a retired battalion chief for Decatur Fire & Rescue, has passed away at the age of 52.
Cheatham, a resident of Trinity, Alabama, had a distinguished career spanning over 31 years of fire service. He served with Caddo-Midway Fire and Rescue, Lawrence County EMS, and Decatur Fire & Rescue, where he retired as battalion chief.
A memorial service for Cheatham will be held at Westmeade Baptist Church on Sunday, December 1, at 3 p.m. Rev. Justin McAlpin will officiate the service. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brothers for Life or Alabama First Responder Peer Support. A guestbook is available for those who wish to pay their respects.
