Two people have been injured following an active shooter report in Smithville, Tennessee on Thursday. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department has urged residents around Bell Street, Walmart, and South College to secure in place and be on the lookout for a black male suspect.
According to a message by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Locals have been urged to avoid the area as law enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate the shooting.
“This is a message from DeKalb County 911. Please be on the lookout for a black male in the area of Bell Street who left on foot. He is wanted by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department for multiple shootings. The subject is described as a black male wearing blue jeans and a gray shirt. He is in his mid-20s. Do not try to approach this subject. He is considered armed and dangerous. Call 911 immediately Smithville, Tennessee.”
