BRONX, N.Y. — A 7-year-old boy and his mother were victims of a robbery and assault at a Bronx store on Tuesday morning, police said.
The incident took place around 11:40 a.m. at a store located at 1356 Jerome Avenue, where the child was attempting to pay for fruit. An unidentified individual grabbed money from the boy’s hand and, when the boy’s 38-year-old mother intervened, punched her in the face.
The suspect fled on foot, heading north toward East 170th Street, authorities said. Emergency responders treated the woman at the scene for her injuries.
Police are searching for the suspect, who remained at large. No further details were available.
