ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that took place on October 6 on Atlantic Avenue, the Atlantic City Police Department reported. Officers responded to the 2500 block of Atlantic Avenue around 8:30 p.m., finding a 44-year-old local resident with a stab wound.
Police were able to quickly identify a suspect through information provided by the department’s Surveillance Center. Officer Jose Zamorano apprehended 19-year-old Jerry Martinez several blocks away from the crime scene. Authorities said that the incident followed a verbal altercation between Martinez and the victim.
Martinez faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The victim’s condition has not been disclosed.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released further details about the events leading up to the stabbing.
