JAMAICA, Queens — An off-duty New York City employee was arrested on Monday in Queens and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.
The arrest took place at 11:40 a.m. within the confines of the 103rd Precinct, which serves the Jamaica neighborhood in southeast Queens. The individual taken into custody was identified as Mohammad Islam, a 40-year-old NYPD traffic agent.
According to police, Islam was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, though details surrounding the incident that led to the arrest were not immediately available.
Islam’s arrest is being handled by the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau, which oversees investigations involving department employees. The NYPD has not yet commented on the case.
As of Monday evening, there was no additional information on whether Islam had been released or remained in custody.
