HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. — Henderson County officials are urging residents to avoid burning debris in the wake of recent storms, citing safety concerns. In a notice posted on social media Monday, the county warned that current conditions increase the risk of accidental fires.
Instead, the county is offering a free curbside debris pickup service for all residents. Storm debris placed along the right-of-way of NCDOT, municipal, and private roads will be collected at no charge.
“We want to reduce the risk of accidental fires while our emergency responders continue to work,” the county’s notice stated.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the free service, which aims to help clear properties without the risks associated with burning debris.
This service follows recent storms that have left many properties with fallen trees and other storm-related damage.
