Oakdale, NY – Suffolk County Police officers rescued a kitten from a vehicle’s wheel well on Sunrise Highway on Tuesday evening. The incident took place around 7:50 p.m. after a motorist reported that a kitten was stuck in the wheel well of their vehicle.
Highway Patrol officers swiftly responded by blocking the left lane of the highway to allow Emergency Service officers to safely remove the frightened kitten. The timely intervention ensured the kitten’s safety amidst ongoing traffic conditions.
The rescued kitten, seven weeks old, appeared to be in good health despite suffering minor injuries to its tail. Following the rescue, the kitten was placed in the care of animal rescuer John Debacker.
The rescue operation was deemed successful, and all officers involved were acknowledged for their efforts in saving the animal.
