ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Atlantic City Police Department has recovered a vehicle linked to the 2016 disappearance of Dashand Stokelin, who was reported missing nearly eight years ago.
Stokelin, 36, of Atlantic City, was last seen on November 23, 2016, in the 200 block of North Carolina Avenue. He was driving a blue 2016 Subaru Legacy, which had been missing along with him since that morning.
This week, a boat operator using sonar in Clam Thorofare noticed what appeared to be a submerged vehicle and alerted authorities. The Brigantine Fire Department Dive Team located the vehicle, which was later identified as Stokelin’s. The New Jersey State Police, along with Iaconelli Construction, removed the vehicle from the water on October 2. A search of the vehicle yielded no human remains.
Anyone with information regarding the disappearance of Stokelin is encouraged to contact the Atlantic City Police Department Criminal Investigations Section at 609-347-5766 or submit a tip anonymously via text to tip411 (847411), starting the message with “ACPD.”
