HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – Schools in Henderson County will remain closed for students from October 7 through October 11 as recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene continue, according to an update from county officials on Friday.
Henderson County Public Schools (HCPS) shared that while they aim to reopen the week of October 14, a final decision will depend on ongoing consultations with Emergency Management. “The well-being of our students, staff, and community remains our top priority,” the statement read, emphasizing that they are closely monitoring the situation.
In the meantime, families can access a list of support services through the county’s emergency information page, which is updated regularly.
Further instructions for HCPS employees regarding workdays and returning to work were shared directly with staff earlier in the day.
Officials thanked the community for its resilience and assured families they would be kept informed as conditions improve.
