GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A second teenager has been arrested and charged in connection to the May 2024 double homicide of D’Andre Wint and Quincy Johnson in Silver Spring’s Nolte Local Park, Montgomery County authorities announced Thursday.
Adom Bogale Abay, 16, of Silver Spring, has been charged as an adult with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of using a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Abay is accused of involvement in the shooting deaths of Wint and Johnson, both 20 years old, who were killed on May 26.
Montgomery County Police Major Crimes detectives linked Abay to the murders through evidence gathered during the investigation. Abay, already in custody on unrelated charges, was served with an arrest warrant and is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
Earlier, 15-year-old Onyx Santana Austin was arrested on August 26 at Dulles International Airport by U.S. Customs and Border Protection upon returning to the country. Austin is also facing charges for his alleged role in the killings.
The investigation remains ongoing.
