CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. — James Wolff, a 50-year-old resident of Teaneck, New Jersey, was arraigned on September 30 in the Town of Clarkstown Justice Court on felony charges related to the filing of falsified documents, according to the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office. Wolff faces one count of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree and one count of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree.
The charges stem from an investigation by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Investigations Unit, which found that Wolff had knowingly submitted altered bank statements to the Rockland County Surrogate’s Court in June 2024. Wolff also testified under oath to the authenticity of the falsified documents.
“As alleged, the defendant filed false bank statements with the court,” District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II said in a statement. “Trying to deceive the court is a serious offense and has consequences.”
The investigation was conducted by the Rockland County DA’s Special Investigations Unit with assistance from the Clarkstown Police Department. Wolff’s next court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
