ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A juvenile has been arrested on weapons charges and four others were detained for curfew violations following a shots fired investigation late Sunday night, according to the Atlantic City Police Department.
Officers responded to the area of New Jersey and Arctic Avenues at 11:51 p.m. on September 29 after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arriving, officers found evidence of gunshots and learned that several juveniles had fled the area.
Officers Francis Malloy and Alex Torres soon located and detained a group of juveniles on the first block of South New Jersey Avenue. One 15-year-old male from Millville, N.J., was found in possession of a loaded handgun and was arrested by Officers Louis Scarlata and Andrew Pellegrino. The other four juveniles, also from Millville, were taken into custody for curfew violations and later released to their parents or guardians.
The 15-year-old has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of an extended magazine, and possession of hollow-point ammunition. He was remanded to the Morris County Detention Facility.
