NEWARK, Del. — A freight train that had been blocking multiple crossings in downtown Newark has been moved, according to local authorities. Earlier today, the train stopped on tracks between Cleveland Avenue and Main Street, causing significant traffic disruptions by blocking crossings at North College Avenue and West Main Street.
The railroad company was notified of the issue and worked to resolve it, though the exact cause of the delay has not been disclosed. Traffic in the area is expected to return to normal.
Authorities had previously urged drivers to seek alternate routes and reminded the public not to climb over or between the stopped train cars due to safety concerns.
Further updates will be provided as needed.
