PLYMOUTH, Mass. — A jury has convicted Gregory Goodsell, 36, of Marshfield, in connection with a 2019 crash that killed a 13-year-old girl and left two others seriously injured, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced Thursday. After a two-week trial, the jury deliberated for over 10 hours before finding Goodsell guilty of second-degree murder, motor vehicle manslaughter while operating under the influence, and other related charges.
The crash occurred on December 29, 2019, when Goodsell, intoxicated with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.266 and under the influence of cocaine, drove his Ford F-250 pickup truck through a red light at 67 mph, striking a Subaru occupied by 50-year-old Elizabeth Zisserson, her daughter Claire, 13, and family friend Kendall Zemotel, also 13. Claire Zisserson later died from her injuries.
Goodsell, who had attended a company party and a house party earlier that morning, was also found guilty of two counts of operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of property damage. Investigators at the scene found alcohol and drug paraphernalia in Goodsell’s vehicle.
The sentencing is scheduled for October 3 in Plymouth Superior Court.
