BOSTON, MA- A man was arrested by the Drug Control Unit of District B-2 (Roxbury) in Boston on drug charges following an operation on Tuesday. At approximately 1:19 PM, officers took Jaylin Hawkins, 29, of Boston, into custody.
The arrest stemmed from officers patrolling Roxbury Street and Washington Street to tackle community concerns of illegal drug activity. The officers witnessed an exchange between two individuals, suspecting it to be a drug transaction. Upon stopping one of the suspects, they discovered a plastic bag containing crack cocaine and informed him of a forthcoming court summons for Possession of Class B.
Efforts to locate the second suspect initially proved unsuccessful. However, around 5:50 PM, officers found and apprehended the individual near 2360 Washington Street. A search uncovered a plastic bag of crack cocaine and $607 in cash on his person.
During the subsequent booking process, officers conducted a search that revealed two small and one large plastic bag, the latter holding several smaller bags, all containing crack cocaine. The drugs were found to weigh about 38 grams in total.
Hawkins faces multiple charges.
