NEWARK, N.J. — Monday morning commuters in New Jersey faced a series of traffic incidents and delays across key roadways, with crashes and congestion causing slowdowns in multiple areas.
A crash on the New Jersey Turnpike’s Eastern Spur northbound, just north of Interchange 15E near U.S. 1&9 in Newark, blocked one left lane at 7:43 a.m., leading to delays in the area. Earlier, at 7:36 a.m., a crash on U.S. 1 northbound at Commerce Boulevard in North Brunswick Township also resulted in the closure of one left lane.
On the Garden State Parkway southbound, a crash near Exit 149 in Bloomfield at 7:08 a.m. saw vehicles moved to the right shoulder, allowing traffic to proceed but with some delays. By 7:49 a.m., delays were reported on the Garden State Parkway northbound from south of Exit 89C in Lakewood Township to north of Exit 90 in Brick Township, causing a one-mile backup due to high traffic volume.
Additional delays were observed on several major highways across the state. NJ 24 eastbound from I-287 to Exit 2 in Hanover Township experienced minor congestion with a travel time of less than five minutes. Similar conditions were reported on NJ 24 westbound near Millburn Township, where all lanes remained open.
Commuters are advised to stay updated on traffic conditions as congestion and delays are expected to continue through the morning.
