PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Police are investigating multiple shootings and a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred across the city on Thursday, leaving one teenager dead and several individuals injured.
In the 2nd District, a 53-year-old woman was shot at approximately 6:17 a.m. on the 7200 block of Bingham Street. The woman sustained a gunshot wound to her left hip and was transported by Medic 12 to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where she is in stable condition. A firearm was recovered at the scene, but no arrests have been made.
Earlier, in the 9th District, a 34-year-old man was shot once in the chest around 3:59 a.m. on the 800 block of Spring Garden Street. He was transported by police to Jefferson Hospital and remains in critical condition. The motive for the shooting is unknown, and no arrests have been reported.
Later in the evening, at 10:06 p.m. in the 25th District, a 24-year-old man was shot multiple times on the 900 block of East Schiller Street. He was taken to Temple Hospital via private vehicle and is in critical condition. No weapons were recovered, and the shooter remains at large.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on these shootings to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s Shooting Investigations Group.
Additionally, a fatal hit-and-run crash occurred at approximately 9:52 p.m. in the 19th District at 6500 Haverford Avenue. The victim, 14-year-old Dawn Watson, was crossing the street with her mother when she was struck by a dark-colored vehicle, possibly a Mercedes, traveling at high speed. The driver fled the scene. Watson was pronounced dead at 9:46 p.m. by Medic 41.
Police are still searching for the driver involved in the hit-and-run.
