BELLEVILLE, N.J., Sept. 29 — Despite rain showers, the Belleville community came together earlier today for the first annual Childhood Cancer Awareness Walk, held at the Belleville High School track. The event, organized to raise awareness and support for childhood cancer research, saw participation from local residents and officers from the Belleville Police Department.
According to a social media post by the Belleville Police Department, officers were on hand to support the event. “Despite the rain, the community came together for a great cause and to raise awareness and support childhood cancer research,” the department wrote on its Facebook page.
Participants braved the weather to show solidarity with children and families affected by cancer. Organizers emphasized that events like this are critical in raising awareness and funds for research aimed at finding a cure.
Belleville Police thanked everyone involved, noting the success of the event and expressing hopes for future walks. “Every step taken brings us closer to a cure,” the post read.
Details on the total amount raised during the walk were not immediately available. The event is expected to become an annual tradition in Belleville.
