NEW YORK, Sept. 29 — A 33-year-old man was shot and killed early Sunday in the Bronx, while another man was injured in the same incident, police said. Officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 1:07 a.m. reporting a shooting at 2693 Morris Avenue, within the confines of the 52nd Precinct.
When police arrived, they found Alvin Ortiz, 33, with gunshot wounds to his left arm and chest. A second victim, a 36-year-old man, had been shot in his left arm and wrist. Emergency medical services transported both men to Saint Barnabas Hospital.
Ortiz, who resided on Overlook Place in Newburgh, N.Y., was pronounced dead at the hospital, authorities said. The 36-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, remains in stable condition.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing, according to police. It was not immediately clear what led to the gunfire, and detectives are continuing to gather information.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they seek to identify suspects involved in the shooting.
