Pittsburgh, PA – Pittsburgh Police officers received a report of an assault that occurred around 2 a.m. on Friday, near the intersection of Semple and Ward streets. The incident involved a male victim who encountered a group of approximately eight males.
The victim reported that the group noticed his Star of David necklace and began hurling insults related to Israel. A verbal altercation ensued which escalated when at least three of the males started to punch and kick the victim, resulting in a bruised lip. A bystander eventually intervened, interrupting the assault.
The victim initially reported the incident to University of Pittsburgh Police. However, since the assault happened off-campus, Pittsburgh Police took over the case. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is now collaborating with FBI Pittsburgh in an effort to identify all suspects involved in the incident.
