NYACK, NY – Robert Fidler, 66, of Nyack, New York, was arrested on charges related to attempting to disseminate indecent material to a minor and attempting to endanger the welfare of a child, according to an announcement by Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II. The arrest follows an undercover operation by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Internet Crimes Against Child Task Force.
From April 30 through September 1, Fidler engaged in online conversations with an undercover officer posing as a thirteen-year-old and a fourteen-year-old female. During these conversations, Fidler allegedly attempted to arrange meetings with the girls and described potential sexual contact.
District Attorney Walsh stated that the arrest highlights the ongoing risk posed by individuals using the internet to target minors. He warned potential predators that such actions would result in significant legal consequences and reiterated his office’s commitment to protecting children.
The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Homeland Security Investigations (NY), Clarkstown Police Department, Orangetown Police Department, and Town of Ramapo Police Department. Fidler was arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Justice Court by Judge Schoenberger on Tuesday.
