NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has requested assistance from the public in identifying a suspect involved in an assault on a food delivery worker. The incident was recorded on surveillance video on September 15.
Officers were called to the Taco Bell located in the 300 block of Broad Street. The delivery worker arrived at approximately 9:30 p.m. to collect a DoorDash order.
As the worker waited, a gray sedan pulled up, and the driver engaged the worker before exiting the vehicle. The driver then shoved and punched the worker in the mouth, knocking him to the ground. The suspect fled southbound on Broad Street with three passengers: one male and two females.
Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the suspect to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
