Atlantic City, NJ- The Atlantic City Police Department’s use of automated license plate readers led to multiple arrests and the recovery of a stolen vehicle and a loaded handgun.
On September 19 at 5:15 PM, an alert was generated for a vehicle entering Atlantic City. The vehicle was operated by David Ringgold, who had numerous active warrants for his arrest. As Ringgold continued to drive down Atlantic Avenue, his vehicle triggered additional alerts from automated license plate readers. Officers Shalon Blake and Jovahn Perez located the vehicle at Vermont and Atlantic Avenues, where Ringgold attempted to provide false information but was subsequently arrested.
A follow-up investigation by Officer Blake led to a court-authorized search warrant for Ringgold’s vehicle. The search resulted in the recovery of a loaded handgun. Amanda Hoss, who was with Ringgold during his arrest and initially provided false information, has since been identified. Hoss is charged with various crimes, has numerous active warrants, and is currently wanted by authorities.
