Jersey City, NJ – A fire at a residential building on Wade Street in Jersey City is under investigation after critically injuring a woman. Authorities are working to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
The incident occurred early on Tuesday, with the Jersey City Fire Department receiving a report of the fire shortly after 6:30 a.m. Responding firefighters discovered the fire in a first-floor apartment at 81 Wade Street. A 61-year-old woman was found unresponsive with serious injuries at the scene.
Emergency Medical Services transported the injured woman to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment. She remains in critical but stable condition.
The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department are jointly investigating the incident.
