JERSEY CITY, N.J.– The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit has arrested three individuals following an investigation into fraudulent life insurance policies.
Auditya Ramotar, 69, of Ozone Park, N.Y., faces multiple charges including two counts of tampering with records and two counts of theft of identity. He is also charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and two counts of insurance fraud.
Leona Ramroop, 58, of Ozone Park, N.Y., is charged with falsifying records and two counts of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud. Bhogewattie Ramotar, 57, of Ozone Park, N.Y., is charged with conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.
Auditya and Bhogewattie Ramotar were arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office on August 23 and released on a summons. Leona Ramroop was arrested at the same location on Thursday and released on a summons.
The investigation found Auditya Ramotar, a licensed insurance provider, fraudulently obtained two life insurance policies for an individual without their consent.
Ramroop, a phlebotomist, generated falsified medical records, according to the allegations.
