Minnesota Governor Tim Walz met with Alex Soros, the son of billionaire George Soros, at the younger Soros’ New York City apartment this week. The meeting sparked criticism from Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who labeled Alex Soros a “puppet master” after photos of the event surfaced.
Ramaswamy took to social media, sharing the images and stating, “If you squint, you can see the strings on the marionette,” in a dig at the connection between Soros and Democratic leaders.
Elon Musk also weighed in, criticizing Alex Soros for his support of Vice President Kamala Harris, noting that both Soros and his father have been significant contributors to Harris and the Democratic Party’s campaigns.
Alex Soros, who took over control of his father’s $25 billion philanthropic empire in 2023, has committed to continuing to fund left-wing causes, including backing Democratic candidates like Walz and Harris.
The meeting marks the second time in the past month that Walz, who has cultivated a “regular guy” image despite his current run for vice president, has met with Soros and his wife, Huma Abedin, the former aide to Hillary Clinton.
In August, Soros enthusiastically supported Walz after meeting him at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, declaring himself “Walzified” and “Walzpilled” on social media. His excitement was evident once again after hosting Walz in New York, calling it an honor to host the vice-presidential candidate at his home.
