PITTSBURGH, PA — A fugitive suspected in the shooting death of a woman in Kitzmiller, Maryland, has been apprehended in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit, Computer Crimes, and Robbery detectives arrested Nikolas Patrick James, 46, just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday. James was taken into custody in the 1100 block of Banksville Road without incident. Officials in Garrett County, Maryland, had issued a “Be On the Look Out” alert for James.
The suspect is currently held in Pittsburgh, awaiting extradition to Maryland.
James is accused of shooting a woman and setting her house on fire early on September 24. Law enforcement has not released additional details about the victim or the motive behind the alleged crime.
Detectives coordinated efforts across state lines to locate and arrest James. Pittsburgh police have not commented on the specifics of the operation or any potential charges that might be brought against James in Pittsburgh.
The Garrett County Sheriff’s Office issued the BOLO alert for James following the incident.
