KITZMILLER, Md.—Deputy State Fire Marshals and K9 Blondie are assisting the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office in investigating a reported homicide and arson in Kitzmiller, Maryland. The Garrett County Sheriff’s Office, the lead agency on the case, has requested media inquiries be directed to them.
Authorities have identified Nikolas Patrick James, 46, as a person of interest. James may be driving a white 2023 Chrysler Pacifica with Maryland registration 4GJ-9172.
The public is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately if they have any information. James is considered armed and dangerous.
On Monday, the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal confirmed additional cooperation. Photos of James and the vehicle have been made public to aid in identification.
Officials reiterate the need for residents to report any sightings. Anyone seeing James or the vehicle should avoid contact and notify authorities immediately.
