QUEENS, N.Y. — A 15-year-old male was arrested early Wednesday in connection with an ongoing murder investigation, according to police. The arrest took place at 12:06 a.m. in the area covered by the NYPD’s 113th Precinct.
The teenager has been charged with second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The arrest follows an extensive investigation, though details about the incident or the victim have not yet been released.
Authorities are still seeking additional information on another individual believed to be involved in the case. The person, described as a male between the ages of 15 and 18, has black hair, a slim build, and weighs around 150 pounds.
Police stated that the individual was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, white sneakers, and a black surgical mask. Detectives have also submitted media depicting the wanted person, hoping the public can assist in identifying him.
The investigation remains ongoing, with detectives continuing to gather evidence and leads.
QUEENS, N.Y. — The NYPD is seeking the public’s help in identifying a second suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of Jean Pierre Rengifo-Arteaga, 23, in Queens last Friday. Authorities have released media of the individual, who was last seen near the crime scene, as the investigation continues.
Officers responded to a 911 call on September 13, 2024, at 7:20 p.m., reporting an assault in progress at 33-37 96th Street, within the 115th Precinct. Upon arrival, they found Rengifo-Arteaga with gunshot wounds to the head, right forearm, and abdomen. He was transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was pronounced dead.
The NYPD has already made one arrest in the case, charging a 15-year-old male with second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. However, police are now searching for a second individual believed to be involved in the incident.
The sought individual is described as a male with a medium complexion, between 20 and 25 years old, with medium-length black braided hair, dark eyes, and a medium build. He was last seen wearing a beige shirt, beige pants, black shoes, and a black skullcap.
