NEW YORK, N.Y. — Police are searching for a man in connection with an assault on an 81-year-old woman that took place Friday evening on the Upper West Side. The incident occurred near West 66th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, within the confines of the 20th Precinct.
According to police reports, the assault happened at approximately 7:09 p.m., when the woman was walking her dog. The suspect, described as a male, approached the victim from behind and struck her in the face with a closed fist. The force of the blow caused her to fall and lose consciousness.
The victim was transported to Mount Sinai West in critical but stable condition. Police said the suspect fled the scene on foot.
The suspect is described as a male, between 30 and 35 years old, with a medium build and light complexion. He stands around 6 feet tall, with black hair and facial hair. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering, black pants, white sneakers, and was carrying a brown jacket.
No arrests have been made, and police are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
