NEW YORK — A 62-year-old woman was assaulted and pushed onto the subway tracks early Thursday morning at the Jefferson Street station in Brooklyn, police said.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:52 a.m. on the northbound platform of the L train line. The suspect approached the woman, punched her in the face, and shoved her onto the tracks, authorities reported. The victim sustained injuries to her left ankle and right elbow.
Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and transported the woman to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where she is in stable condition. The suspect fled the station on foot and remains at large.
Police described the suspect as a male with a slim build and dark complexion, standing around 5 feet 11 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a blue du-rag, a gray shirt, gray pants, and white and pink sneakers.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect.
