Ocean City, MD – The Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) has provided an update on the workplace misconduct investigation involving five of its officers. The investigation, which stemmed from a citizen’s complaint filed in April, has undergone extensive review. Recent findings have been submitted to the Worcester County Administrative Charging Committee.
Chief Buzzuro emphasized the department’s dedication to transparency and thorough investigation. He stated that the findings were handed over this week and stressed the importance of keeping the community informed. The ongoing investigation is now in the hands of the Worcester County Administrative Charging Committee, which will evaluate the findings.
The committee will then make a disciplinary recommendation to Chief Buzzuro. The officers involved in the investigation can either accept the recommendation or face a trial board, similar to a legal proceeding. The department anticipates that the concluding phase of this process will take some time and will cooperate with the committee as necessary.
Under current Police Reform statutory requirements, citizens who file complaints will receive a receipt and their complaint will be forwarded to the Police Accountability Board.
