Mays Landing, NJ– Darrell Dean, 61, from Atlantic City, NJ, was charged with second-degree Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident on Tuesday. The charges stem from a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on Route 30 in Galloway Township on Thursday at approximately 7:54 p.m.
Police responded to the scene near Seventh Avenue where they discovered the deceased victim, identified as Angeletta Sheppard, 33, from Barnegat, NJ. Authorities allege that Dean fled his vehicle before law enforcement arrived. Dean was located and arrested five days later, on Tuesday, and subsequently released on a summons.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Crash Investigations Unit and the Galloway Township Police Department are jointly investigating the incident.
