ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Marty Small Sr., 50, and his wife, La’Quetta Small, 47, were indicted Tuesday on charges of endangering the welfare of their teenage daughter. Marty Small Sr., the mayor of Atlantic City, also faces charges of terroristic threats and aggravated assault.
The charges stem from allegations of abuse occurring between December 2023 and January 2024. Authorities allege that the couple physically and emotionally abused their 15- and 16-year-old daughter on multiple occasions.
According to the indictment, Marty Small Sr. is accused of hitting his daughter in the head with a broom on January 13, causing her to lose consciousness. In another incident earlier that month, he allegedly threatened to harm her by throwing her down the stairs, grabbing her head, and smacking her.
La’Quetta Small is accused of striking her daughter multiple times, including punching her in the chest and dragging her by her hair. In one incident, she allegedly struck her daughter with a belt, leaving visible marks.
The couple’s next court appearance is scheduled for later this year.
